THE RAILFANA OBSCURA PAGE!
THE STRANGEST RAILFAN WEB PAGE ON THE INTERNET!!!
Lots of different PCC shots from every country they ran in. Old, new, borrowed and blue. Day shots, night shots, good shots, bad shots. Originals in good color schemes, rebuilds in bad color schemes. And some day I will add the world's most exotic work car. A flat car with PCC trucks. Clang! Is it a 14-inch or 20-inch gong? Depends on the city! Enjoy!!!

CMStp&P 4-8-4 261 In Repose

261 at dusk, simmering away. The greatest fantrip engine in service today. Riding behind her is not a 'trip', but an experience. A matched Milwaukee Road Hiawatha Train, and a professional operation. Commonplace 40 years ago, but very rare and special in this day and age.

Baltimore and Ohio 4-4-4 'Lady Baltimore' St Louis, late 1930s

B & O Engine #1 was an experimental 4-4-4 type, nicknamed the Lady Baltimore.. It was used on their Royal Blue train between New York and Washington for a time. Then it was shifted to stepchild Alton Railroad to pull lightweight trains between Chicago and St Louis in 1937. Unfortunately, the Lady suffered from slippery starts, and was underpowered to keep the streamliner on its tight schedule on the Alton.

It was soon returned to the B&O proper, and eventually wound up in local service between Pittsburgh and Wheeling, WV. It was scrapped in 1950. The Lady was replaced by the pioneer EMC diesel 50 boxcab, which had teething troubles of its own, and was later matched with the 2nd #50, a streamlined EMC EA. The B&O gave up control of the Alton in 1943.
